*CANCELED* Embodying Shamanism in Prehistoric Crete w/ Robinette Kennedy, Ph.D.
March 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Sacred art in the first prehistoric European culture (the Greek island of Crete 7,800-450 BCE) illuminates a time when Europeans openly celebrated robust relationships with spirit and nature as driving forces of daily life.
Certain images from this period on Crete suggest that rituals included shamanic practices, but until now, it wasn’t known just what these practices were.
Since the early 1990’s, Robinette’s groundbreaking research into Crete’s images of humans in unusual poses (found in sacred places) has brought to life a ritual practice that facilitates specific journeys into the energetic, visionary and mythological worlds that were the foundation of western consciousness.
