*CANCELED* Workin’ Da Roots w/ Yayi Joyce

Workin’ Da Root will not be your regular class on Rootworkin’ Hoodoo & Herbs and Curios. In this one-day series of workshops, you will be introduced to the History of Hoodoo and Rootwork and this African American magico-religious tradition that one can commonly find in the southern states of America however is also present in the Caribbean as well.

We will discuss the practice of Hoodoo and Workin’ with slave energy and ancestors because this is a slave-based culture due to the trans-Atlantic slave trade. And there is no Hoodoo and Rootworkin without discussing the captured and displaced thousands of men and women from their native land. Those captured men and women lost everything. However, they held on to their original faiths. However, the shared knowledge between indigenous Americans and European settlers still the spiritual beliefs of Hoodoo & Rootworkin’ was and is an African based culture with some new traditions added making Hoodoo born.

The tradition was passed on from generation to generation, and it lives on in the descendants of those who passed it forward, and we are here to teach you what it truly means to Work Da Root.

You should know ancestor basics, and it is strongly recommended that you have a robust ancestral root. If you do not have strong ancestral roots then please Ancestral 101 with Yayi Joyce before attending the class, she offers that class in person and online. Please have a journal, pen, and paper and snacks and water with you for the long day; thank you.

You can leave a donation to provide for the Elders, and for people who would like for the class but can not afford it at this time. Contributions do not guarantee you a spot in the class.
